An Overview of Powder Coating
The powder coating process is largely dependent on what is to be coated. First, the surface needs to be cleaned and profiled in order to be prepared for this stage. This is done by using one of the other services we provide such as shot blasting which produces the best profile for the powder to adhere to, helping to create a smooth, even finish.
The item is then, if required, dipped in our phosphate tanks for de-greasing, this stage is essential for aluminium parts. It is then dried thoroughly, and hung in order to start the coating process.
An electrical charge is passed through the metal acting as a magnetic draw, whilst a member of our powder coating team coats the object with one of our highly recommended powders. It is then baked at the required temperature in an industrial oven for the specified time, cooled, inspected by our quality control team, and passed to packaging for protective covering before returning it to the client.
